INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE TIPS
Knowing basic maintenance information will help you keep your instrument in much better playing condition.
Listed below are some basic pointers for keeping your instrument in good shape.

Barred Instruments
- Using your fingers, squeeze rubber tubing. If rubber tubing has dried out completely or hardened, bar will not be able to resonate freely. Hardened tubing must be replaced.
- Encourage students to use two hands when changing accidentals and make sure that they lift up.

- Parallel Pliers for Straightening Pegs
- Regular White or Wood Glue for Stablizing Loose Pegs (not superglue)
