Have you ever bought a piece of gear off a classifieds website such as Kijiji or Craigslist? It is something that has become increasingly popular for musicians looking for a good bargain or a rare piece of gear.

As much as websites like these are a benefit to musicians they can also be scary places. Let me give you an example…

About a year ago I decided to sell my Marshal 1×12 bass combo. I listed it on Kijiji and received multiple replies. One gentleman offered me an extra $20 if I could drop it off at his house as he didn’t have a car. At this point my suspicions were alerted, however I agreed to the deal.
That afternoon I dropped by his house with my older brother accompanying me (my “bodyguard” if you will). Upon arriving I walked into a home that was in a decent suburb yet the interior was plain nasty, and what put me most on edge was that there was a group of men who were far too drunk to be operating coherently that were roaming around the house. The only saving grace for the sale was that I saw that the prospective buyer had a decent set up and seemed genuinely interested in my gear. Once there was cash in my hand I ran out the door as fast as possible, not stoping for a second to look back.

From that moment forward I vowed to do things a little differently when I came to buying/selling used gear. This “sketchy” Kijiji experience helped birth the Quest Music Store online used store.

The concept is pretty simple:
1. A customer brings in a piece of used gear that they would like to sell.
2. We at Quest inspect/photograph the gear and put it on display both in-store and on the online store.
3. The gear is purchased by someone else.

As well, we have taken the sketchy factor out of payment. You don’t have to pay cash for these items! You can purchase them from your computer chair or call ahead and have them set aside if you would like to check them out in-store before making your purchase.

We encourage you to bookmark the brand new used gear site and constantly refer back to it as it will be updated weekly with new gear!
Who is the Treble?

The Treble is a four piece band from Winnipeg Manitoba consisting of Mark Brusegard [Vocals], Colin McTavish [Piano], Graeme Woods [Guitar], Pat Hansen [Bass] and Dana Jerlo [Drums]. Having been together for shortly over a year, the boys from the Treble have encountered significant success.

Inspired by their hometown of Winnipeg, the Treble released their first ep Shaking Hands and Taking Names in the summer of 2011 to a sold out crowd at the Academy.

Why is The Treble cool?

The Treble is downright no-questions-asked cool, and let me tell you why.

This summer, while working at Quest on Meadowood I greeted a pair of gentlemen who walked into the store. The two men made a simple request, some mic’s and mic stands needed for rental. Up to this point the transaction was pretty standard, until I asked why they need the gear that is… The two gentlemen replied to my question by outlining their newest “tour” idea. They continued on to tell me that they were intending to play 24 shows in 24 hours. This idea blew my mind, however, the concept was simple enough. The Trebled toured the city playing in/at 24 venues and landmarks to raise funds and awareness for famine relief in the Horn of Africa.

In collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross, the Treble played their 24 shows and collected donations which went toward raising funds in support of relief efforts in the Horn of Africa.

That night, after meeting Mark and Graeme I went to one of their shows and was thoroughly impressed as they played to a packed lounge, everyone enjoying their tunes.

What’s New With The Treble?

The Treble are releasing a video for their ’24 in 24’ fundraiser on April 1st at the Park Theatre. The video is a documentary of the 24 shows that they played starting at 8pm on October 14th, 2011. The video is being released and sold to generate additional funds for Red Cross Manitoba.

Interested in The Treble?

Perhaps it’s their hearts for helping strangers on the other end of the world… or perhaps it is their dashing good looks… Regardless, if you are interested in learning more about The Treble you can visit their Facebook page by clicking here.

While your here check out this solid video of The Treble, recording their song Speed It Up.
